Community Services & Outreach

SparkyThe Community Services & Outreach Platoon is responsible for the managment and delivery of a wirde-range of proactive fire and life safety programs. The Community Services & Outreach Platoon was created in 2001, in part, as a response to recommendations made in the Mt. Lebanon Comprehensive Plan, adopted December 11, 2000. One of the goals identified in the Plan was to Reevaluate present levels of community services, based upon 2000 US Census Data, to address the changing needs of community residents. To meet the needs of Mt. Lebanon’s aging population and to attract young professionals and families, the Community Service & Outreach Platoon was created to develop and/or expanded several community-oriented programs:

· Senior Smoke Detector Installation Program
·
Senior Fire Life Safety Program
· Block Parties
·
Home Safety Inspection Program
·
Chimney Inspection Program
· Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention
·
Lifeline Installation
·
Citizens Fire Academy
· Community Events
· Safety Fairs

As residents, Mt. Lebanon Fire Fighters are committed to the overall success of the community. Throughout the year, career and volunteer personnel participate in over 450 community-related events.
